The vintage car rally, which started from the port city of Karachi, would reach Peshawar on December 20 next.
The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) in collaboration with the Land Rover and Vintage Car Club Pakistan (VCCP) has organised the car rally, said a press release issued here Monday.
The 7th Karachi – Peshawar Vintage and Classic Car Rally was started from Karachi on September 11 and will reach Peshawar after passing through different areas, including Gambut, Rahimyar Khan, Multan and Lahore.
Initially 15 classics cars from Karachi participated in the rally which will be joined by other 10 cars from Lahore, 25 from Islamabad and as many from Peshawar afterwards. The participants would have a stopover at Polo Ground in Lahore on November 16.
En route to Peshawar, the rally would move to Islamabad on November 19 and will reach its final destination Peshawar on December 20.
After one night stay at Peshawar Services Club, the participants would proceed from Balahisar Fort to Khyber Riffle Mess in Landikotal in Khyber Agency. The unique cars participating in the rally include Hupmobile, Rolls Royce Silver Wraith (1939), MG TD (1950), Humber Hawk (1957), Ford Thunderbird (1960), Ford Mustang (1964), Austin Mini (1967), Alfa Romeo, Mercedes 108s, MGB, Austin-Healey, MGA Roadster, Chevrolet Corvette (1982), Peugeot 404, Mini Clubman 1275GT and others.Managing Director TCKP Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said that the event was part of the plan of the department to promote tourism in the province.
