Every discipline of the applied sciences at University of Peshawar would submit a project to the Research and Development awards announced by the Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This was decided in a meeting of UoP scientists presided by Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof Dr Qibla Ayaz. A committee was formed in the meeting under the chair of Prof. Dr. Amir Khan, Chairman Department of Geography to ensure submission of projects before the given deadline to the provincial government.

Academia industry linkages were integral for socio economic development of the country, said Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz on the occasion and added that support of the government was needed to bridge the gap between academia and industry and the step taken by provincial government towards exploring the research and development potential of our scientists would go a long way in achieving the same.

Dr. Ayaz said University of Peshawar had all the requisite human resource and technical facilities. The general public can benefit from these through their commercial application from the industry, he added.

Faculty member of Material Research Laboratory Prof. Dr. Yasin Iqbal was of the opinion that in the past projects had been submitted to industries and even HEC, however no tangible output could be achieved from it, because the industry was then not ready to invest and HEC wanted to get the work done without providing financial support as well.

“We have to work under this system and make sure that our persistent efforts compel the high ups to invest in our projects for the benefit of masses,” the Vice Chancellor argued.

The meeting was attended by Dean Faculty of Numerical and Physical Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Director Centre of Biotechnology and Microbiology Prof. Dr. Bashir and other faculty members and departmental.
