Torkham passport office was kept closed for three hours after an ambiguous threat letter was found in front of the Torkham passport office, Khasadar Force’s sources said on Thursday.
Security sources said that high ups have taken strong exception to the incident and would take strict disciplinary action against those found involved in the intrigue as the security forces’ officials were reportedly of the view that it was a plot among the passport office bearers and Torkham administration and there was no reality that any militant groups had pasted the threat letter.
The threatening letter read that the Torkham passport office must be closed otherwise the office bearers themselves would be responsible for any loss, sources said while quoting the letter. Tehsildar Torkham Meraj Khan told a media person on phone that there was no reality in the letter, adding that some misunderstanding and confusion led to the closure of the passport office at Torkham,which was reopened after providing extra security to the pass office.
The travelers on both sides of the border also suffered a lot due to the closure of the passport office at Torkham for many hours, It was also learnt that officials of the security forces had moved to the border after learning about the closure of the passport office due to a warning letter from militant side. Sources from Torkham also said that FIA high ups were coming to Torkham to investigate the matter.
This could not be confirmed from any side whether the threatening letter was really sent by any militant groups or the administration and the passport officials’ intra tension and any dispute had led to the pasting of the ambiguous letter to intimidate each other.
