When the doctors community started behaving like uneducated class and adopts misbehaving attitude like the Khyber Teaching Hospital doctors had adopted the other day when they not only beat the journalists but had also locked them in room for several hours what you can expect from others.
The incidents in Khyber Teaching Hospital where a reporter and his colleagues of a private TV channel were beaten and were locked in a room for almost two hours by the KTH doctors. The incident was widely criticized from every section of life however, no strong reaction was seen from the PTI led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
The government only formed a commiittee to probe into the incident and neither of government officials including the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and the Health Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, who himself is a hournalist, had given a statement in favour of the media or had met the media men in order to difuse the tention.
The common people including patients always criticize the behaviour of doctors as rude while providing medical treatment to patients. PTI after forming the government in KP had clearly stated that health sector would be one of its governments top priority the highups of the government and the party had even told the doctors to change their behavior. However, after the recent KTH incident it seems that the the doctors had not given any importance to the directives of the government and still think that they would keep on moving ahead in a way they like the best.
The media had always given full coverage to the genuine demands of the doctos including service structure however no respect has been shown by the doctors to the media and the journalists.
Recently in health department Director General Health Services Dr Sharif Khan and other members of the staff were guilty for distributing low quality of interferon injection of hepatitis as playing the life of thousands people which were also hundred of question were rise among the common people on the profession of doctors community for playing the life of innocent people.
Recently the government had allowed the junior and senior registrars to do the private practice and media had played a vital role in sending the strong message of the doctors to government through print and electronic media.
The Peshawar Press Club and Khyber Union of Journalists have decided to ban the coverage of the doctors and have also banned the entry of the Health Minister Shaukat Yousafzai in press club. Now is the time both the doctors and the government officials had to change their behaviour towards media and doctors should appologise for their behaviour.
