PESHAWAR: Renowned Pashto language singer Ghazala Javed was shot dead along with her father in Peshawar on Monday.

According to details, Ghazala was visiting a beauty parlour for pre-show preparations. When she left the saloon with her father, two unknown armed men riding a motorbike fired on her.

Ghazala received six bullet wounds and her father four. The singer was pronounced dead at arrival at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).

SP city Asif Iqbal said that initial reports suggested that her ex-husband Jahangir, from whom she had gotten a divorce after only six months of marriage, could be responsible for the attack.

Ghazala’s mother is lodging an FIR at the Shah Qabool station in the Walled City area of Peshawar.
