
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti has said that government has taken special initiatives to increase agricultural production, welfare of farmers, mechanic cultivation and eradication of poverty and unemployment.
Talking to MPAs during his weekly meetings at his office on Thursday, he said that scheme were started to attract farmers towards modern mechanic farming. The Chief Minister said provision of agriculture machinery on subsidized rates and other needs would commence soon.
He said that tendency towards mechanic cultivation was far low because of weak financial status of farmers and less ratio of cultivated land. “The present government has prepared Rs.500 million programme in which 70% of the fund will be spent on purchase of modern machinery and 30% will be for purchase of seed, urea, fruits-bearing plants and insecticides,” Hoti added.
The Chief Minister said most proportion of our population depends on agriculture and 1870000 hectre land was under cultivation while the remaining 64,90,000 hectres can’t be cultivated.
He said that Rs.1 billion were allocated to provide long term loans for the investors. He further said 50% of the total amount would be allocated for establishment of new industries, 25% for improvement in existing industries and 25% for establishment of agro based industries.
He said that 25,000 laptops will be provided to intelligent students of the province in giving effect to Neway Sahar Laptop Scheme very soon. Those met the Chief Minister included provincial Ministers and MPAs hailing from different political parties including ANP and PPP.
The MPAs lauded Chief Minister special initiatives in Education, Health, I.T, Agriculture, Industry and other sectors and termed them progress towards eradication of unemployment, poverty and illiteracy. Matters pertaining to welfare schemes in different constituencies remained under discussion.
