Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Sunday hailed the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision banning recruitment in government departments ahead of the general elections.
“We welcome this decision as it will help bring transparency in the electoral process,” he told a public meeting at Bakhshu Pull situated on the outskirts of the provincial capital.
He said the next general elections were drawing near and making any recruitment in the government department was tantamount to pre-poll rigging.
He sad that at a time when the elections for the National and provincial assemblies are going to take place, transfer and posting of government employees is going on besides recruiting people in various departments. It is making the electoral process doubtful.
This practice should immediately be brought to an end as it is aimed at influencing the electorates. Asking the Election Commission to take notice of the pre-poll rigging, he lauded the election body for banning the diversion of funds that have already been allocated for various developments schemes.
Coming down hard on the government for failing to bring peace, Aftab Sherpao said the rulers were claiming that peace had been restored, but the situation on the ground belied all such assertions.
“The security situation is not satisfactory and it is deteriorating day by day,” he remarked.
The Qaumi Watan Party Chief said the government had miserably failed to overcome the power crisis due to which the country’s economy was on the verge of going bust.
“No solid step has been taken over the past five years to revive the economy from its moribund state. Industrial units are being closed due to the power crisis.
Unemployment has increased manifold, which is a matter of great concern,” he maintained.
Aftab Sherpao said the people were exposed to a host of problems and no effort had been made to give them any relief in the face of skyrocketing inflation.
