Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday dispatched a letter to Corps Commander Peshawar, asking him to soften curfew in South Waziristan during the occasion of peace-rally against drone strikes.

Earlier, Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain stated that PTI Chairman Imran Khan will have to obtain “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) issued by provincial government.

In his press release Mian Iftikhar said that if PTI Chairman Imran Khan wants to conduct rally in Waziristan then NOC would be required to enter Waziristan.

The provincial spokesperson said that we are political people and believe in the independence of politics; also we did not impose restriction ever in the past.

However, the PTI was not ready to consider any warnings neither by the provincial government nor cautions by the intelligence agencies.

PTI Information Secretary Shafqat Mehmood has announced that they would go to Wazirtsn at any cost, dubbing all the reports regarding security of Waziristan March baseless. While speaking to the media he held Interior Minister Rehman Malik responsible for all the “rumors” about the security of PTI’s Wazristan Convoy. “Rehman Malik is trying to aggravate matters”, he added.

The PTI had announced a rally be taken out from Islamabad to South Waziristan on Oct 6 against US drone strikes. But Imran Khan’s opponents have been criticizing him for not going to North Waziristan as he had earlier announced.
