The Designer
In Pakistan there are many endowed & artistic fashion Designers working brilliantly. Fashion Designer Mariyum is also establishing her name as the international Fashion market as well in Pakistan.A fashion magpie born and raised in city of Peshawar, Mariyam is a graduate of IMlSciences .After completing her MBA degree she decided to switch to Fashion Designing, and now works in the Wonderful world of Fashion.
“I grew up in an environment where creativity was encouraged. I loved creating tangible things. At one point I started reworking and redesigning my old accessories and it was a natural progression from there. I had found an exciting medium to express my creativity. But I never thought of it as a career option until later,” says Mariyam.
Owing to her natural flair for Fashion she had been designing for friends and family since 2001, she started her professional career by a small collection, only 7 months back. She formally launched her brand under the label of MYM in August 2011, at Islamabad & within this little duration she manages a number of clients in Pakistan as well as in other countries including Australlia, Uk, and Qatar.
The Brand Launch in Peshawar on 16th June 2012:
MYM first collection is called Fashionista. She recently launched her Fashionista collection 2012 at Concepteur’s lounge University Town Peshawar. The feedback was very positive more than 200 people visited the Launch and the event also got huge media coverage by Express, Samaa and Duniya news channels. Her Brand Model “Mariya Ilyas” was also there. And she posed for a casual cat walk for new clutch bags collection.the Launch in Peshawar was a great success.
A strong sense of personal style and Passion for color set, the theme of the line is “Butterflies” which is Elegant, Posh and little funky. Colors of her collection include shocking pink, black, white, Red, turquoise, blue etc, each piece is a statement of expression & individuality. Mariyam is proposing natural pure well-defined designs with unexpected pops of color.”I am a woman that works for women; I work for the pursuit of style, design & uniqueness. When you wear a MYM Accessories you will definitely be noticed’’ explains the designer.
Incorporating elements from the latest trends but always maintaining an everlasting appeal, the brand offers structured styles, smooth cotton, silk , imported jeans, a rich color palette and fine hardware, this gives pure western look to her clutches collection & combines the bold and contemporary elements of west with the ‘look at me’ attitude. This embraced of different styles meant to shake up what has always been quiet accessories category. Fashionista presents itself as a key statement, spicing up women’s ensembles.
Burgeoning Fashion Designer, Mariyam aims to make a statement in the demanding PK fashion scene. With her distinctive, bold and contemporary designs, she reaches to modern day chic city girls looking to stand out in the crowd. Her future plans include expanding her product line to attire & holding fashion shows in Pakistan and opening a boutique.
