The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister in-waiting Pervez Khan Khattak announced on Thursday that first session the KP?Assembly after the general elections would be held on May 29 for which all arrangements were completed.

Addressing a press conference at Officer’s Mess where three newly elected independents including Mushtaq Ghani, Qalandar Lodhi from Abbottabad and Saimullah Khan Alizai from DI Khan announced to join PTI. 

Chief Minister designate said May 29 would be an historic day in the province’s parliamentary history wherein all the newly elected Members of KP Assembly would take oath.

Later, elections for speaker and deputy speaker would be held followed by elections for the coveted office of CM and oath taking ceremony of the Chief Minister.

Asad Qaisar, Provincial president of PTI has been nominated for the office of speakership by PTI leadership while senior parliamentarian Pervez Khattak for the office of CM KP. Khattak said all the coalition partners and elected representatives would be given respect and be taken on board on all issues. 

He said election manifesto of Pakistan Tahrik e Insaf and promises made by PTI Chairman during elections campaign would be implemented in letter and spirit.

Pervez Khan said establishment of peace in KP would top the agenda list of his Government. Nominee Chief Minister said policy pertaining to holding peace talks was the prime responsibility of the Federal Government and we would take decision with mutual consensus and after consultation with senior party leadership, once the Federal Govt forms policy regarding peace talks. Zero tolerance against kidnapping, street crimes and dacoity would be adopted for ending feelings of insecurity among masses, he maintained. Khattak categorically made it clear that no compromise would be made on peace and law and order situation as for progress and prosperity besides economic stability, lasting peace in KP was imperative. Khan said PTI’s Government in KP would be a role model for other provinces and rejected the impression of using official resources before taking the oath.

Cruelty in any form, injustices, corruption and favoritism would not be accepted and tolerated, said Mr Khattak, adding reforms would be introduced for betterment of education, health services, local Govt and police system.

“PTI’s goals are not to get Govt but to serve masses irrespective of political affiliation with best of our abilities and we would use all energies so that people could see tangible and positive changes in the lives for which they had voted for the party,” Khattak added.

Civil servants and Govt officials with clean service record and resolve to work tirelessly for resolution of peoples’ problems would not be shuffled or transferred.The upcoming budget in KP would be pro poor and peoples friendly and relief would be provided to masses, he maintained. Asked about long hours load shedding, Mr Khattak said Federal 

Government would be contacted for this purpose and a national strategy would be adopted to overcome load shedding from the country and especially in KP.
