The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Friday strongly condemned statement of MQM chief, Altaf Hussain about Quaid-e-Azam, saying that founder of Pakistan had taken oath of allegiance to British King George VI.
The issued was raised in the house by Mufti Kifayatullah of JUI(F) who said it is very deplorable that MQM chief has linked his dual nationality case with Quaid-e-Azam. Such statement of Altaf Hussain will stir a controversy in the country and it will be very ironical that people will comment on the personality of founder of Pakistan. Mufti Kifayat also criticized the MQM chief for his demand of separate province for Muhajirs and alleged that the party is working on formation of other province. He said people are aware about the policies of MQM which has set up torture cells for punishing people opposing their policies. Mufti Kifayat asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motto notice of statement of Altaf Hussain and ask him about the objectives behind his remarks against Quaid-e-Azam.
The view point of Mufti Kifayat was supported by MPA Nighar Orakzai of PML(Q) who also demanded of the Chief Justice to take notice of the statement. She said Quaid-e-Azam personality is a non-controversial and MQM chief wanted to make it controversial. Sardar Shamoon Yar Khan of PML(N) also criticized media for giving undue coverage to telephonic address of Altaf Hussain. He said non of the newspapers had carried any condemning editorial over the statement of Altaf Hussain.
Sardar Shamoon demanded of the federal government to impose ban on telephonic address of Altaf Hussain from England. Speaking from treasury bench, Provincial Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said what Altaf Hussain said about the passport of Quaid-e-Azam that period belong to pre-partition of sub-continent. Till 1956, he continued, the British era regulations were in vogue in Pakistan. There was no Pakistani passport till 1956 to 57 and therefore people used British passport and therefore the statement of Altaf Hussain is irrelevant, Mian Iftikhar observed.
Khizer says Altaf shouldn’t be called Pakistani: Pakistan Muslim League (N) Leader Arbab Khizer Hayat Khan on Friday said that Mutahida Qomi Movement (MQM) and Tahir ul Qadri had no experience in politics.
He said MQM chief Altaf Hussain was blinded by his lust for power that was why he pointed the finger on Quaid-e-Azam.
Khizer said that Altaf Hussain doesn’t have the right to be called “Pakistani”. Khizer strongly condemned the speech of Altaf Hussain. Khizer said, MQM need to learn the politics and must abide the constitution of Pakistan, and if a person or group go against it, that should be punished.
