Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday announced that all educational institutions will remain closed for 15 days, as the confirmed number of coronavirus cases rises to 21, across the country.
The cabinet has ordered the evacuation of students from hostels by evening. It has also decided to postpone examinations of all academic institutions, as well as other official events, across the province. In addition, festivals and prison visits have also been banned.
The cabinet has also decided to ban public gatherings and reduce the number of wedding events. The cabinet urged citizens to take precautionary measures in their people-to-people interactions.
The decision pertaining to the Torkham border will be taken at the National Security Committee meeting scheduled to take place later in the day. Earlier today, the Sindh Health Department confirmed a new case of the novel coronavirus. The tally for confirmed cases in Pakistan stands at 21 with 15 cases in Sindh, five in Gilgit-Baltistan and one in Balochistan.
The 52-year-old patient, who arrived from Islamabad two days ago, tested positive today. The patient’s contacts are being traced for screening of the virus. It is the 15th confirmed Covid-19 case in Sindh – 13 out of whom are active while two have recovered. The health department said all 13 patients are in stable condition.
