The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and the Frontier 4×4 Club are jointly organizing a jeep rally at Tanda Dam in Kohat on March 23 to mark the Pakistan Day celebrations.
Besides jeep rally, water sports, kite flying, archery and folk music programmes are other features of the event to entertain the visitors.
The decision has been taken at a meeting held with Secretary Sports, Tourism, Museums, Archaeology and Youth Affairs Muhammad Tariq in the chair. TCKP Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Senior General Manager Hayat Ali Shah, General Manager (Admin) Sajjad Hameed, Frontier 4×4 Club president Babar Khan and others also attended the meeting.
Secretary Muhammad Tariq said the TCKP and Frontier 4×4 Club were organising jeep rally and other segments for the first time in Kohat to commemorate Pakistan Day on March 23.
He said the event was arranged on this special holiday so more people could participate and enjoy the jeep rally and other events.
“The TCKP and other stakeholders making efforts to promote tourism and sports in Kohat and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” said the secretary.
TCKP Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said that Kohat was unique site with vast potentials for tourism and other recreational activities. “Our department is making efforts to identify and develop scenic places in Kohat and elsewhere in the province on modern lines to facilitate tourists,” the official said. Giving details, Babar Khan said that 100 vehicles of Frontier 4×4 Club, four jeeps of Islamabad Jeep Club, three vehicles of 4-Wheelers Club while 10 other amateurs would participate in the rally. He said that for the first time they were introducing online timing system in the race at the nine kilometre track.
