Like elsewhere in the country, Pakistan Independence Day celebrations has also kicked off momentum in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) where people are busy in decorating houses, buildings, markets, shops and vehicles with national flags, stickers and fancy lights to express their love with their homeland.

People belonging to every walk of life are being seen in large number at book stalls and markets in Qisa Khwani and Laiqat bazaars by buying national flags, stickers, badges carrying photos of national heroes, who had created a separate homeland for muslisms of south asia on August 14, 1947.

Keeping in view the overwhelming zeal and enthusiasm of people and children, the shopkeepers in Qisakhwani and Liaquat Bazaars have setup special colourful stalls with variety of goods including stickers, badges, buntings, national flags, banners and pictures of national heroes to take full advantage of the situation.

Cars, rickshaws, motorcycle and busses are being decorated with national flags and stickers, which looks very attractive. The most enthusiastic are children, who are busy collecting stickers, badges and also beautifying their bicycles with special stickers inscribed with messages of Independence Day.

The Khyber Pakthunkhwa Government has chalked various programms in connection of 66th Independence Day of Pakistan. In addition to 21 gun salute, national flag hoisting ceremonies would be held on 14th August. The main function of national flag hoisting ceremony would be held at Malik Saad Shaeed Police Lines that is likely to be presided over by Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

Similar functions would also be held at Governor House, High Court, Pakistan Railways, DCO Office and other important localities. The main Government and private buildings would be decorated with buntings to celebrate this day with great zeal and national spirit. Special prizes will be awarded to those people who stood first, second and third in decorating and illuminating their buildings on this occasion. Sweets will be distributed among the poor.

A number of events are being chalked out to celebrate the Independence Day in a befitting manner and pay homage to those, who laid down their lives to create an independent motherland for the Muslims of sub continent. Rallies, processions, exhibitions and colorful functions under the aegis of various public and private sector, social and political organizations in all small and major towns and cities of the province will be the hallmark of the day.

In these programmes, the speakers would highlight the significance of the day and will threw light on the guiding principles of father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The electronic, print and online media have also planned comprehensive programmes in this regard. The electronic media would present various programmes including national songs, talk shows, dramas and children programmes. The print media would carry out special supplements, features and articles, highlighting the importance of the day and sacrifices rendered by heroes and nation’s forefathers for Pakistan.
