All arrangements have been completed by the government and private institutions in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to celebrate the 65th independence day of Pakistan with national zeal and enthusiasm on Tuesday.

The day will dawn with 21 guns salute and special prayers in mosques for progress and prosperity of Pakistan, liberation of muslims occupied territories, departed souls of martyrs and establishment of peace in the country.

National Flag would be hoisted on major public/private buildings at 09:00 am on this day. It would be a public holiday throughout the province and FATA.

The main function of the flag hoisting would be held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Line, Peshawar by Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti in the morning. Similarly, flag hoisting ceremonies at the Districts Headquarters would be held by DCOs followed by national anthem and songs. 

Similarly flag hoisting ceremonies would also be organized at Governor House, Peshawar High Court, office of Divisional Superintendent of Pakistan Railways, DCOs and Political Agents, cantonment and other important offices of the government.

To mark the day in befitting manner, the provincial government is celebrating Independence day week from August 8 to 14 in which seminars, meetings, conferences, lectures, debates, speech contests at different academic levels, inter-provincial exchange visits of students, exhibition of books/articles, quiz competitions, Qirat, Naatkhwani, stage dramas and mushairas in national as well as local languages are being arranged.

Focus is being made to promoting, the much needed, the everlasting message of the Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s faith, unity and discipline in the nation. In Peshawar, the main government and private buildings have artistically been decorated with colourful buntings and fancy lights looking very attractive.

Special prizes will be awarded to people who have stood first, second and third in decorating and illuminating their buildings on this occasion. 

Rallies, processions, exhibitions and colorful functions under the aegis of various public and private sector, social and political organizations in all small and major towns and cities of the province and FATA will be the hallmark of the day.

The speakers would highlight the significance of the day and will throw light on the guiding principles of father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and sacrifices made by our forefathers during Pakistan Movement.

In University of Peshawar, special flag hoisting ceremony would also be held on August 14 at 8:00 a.m near examination hall, where Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Qibla Ayaz would hoist the national flag, followed by guard of honour from Campus Police Corps.

Naat, national songs and speech competition among the students of University of Peshawar and its constituent institutes would also be held. Pakistan Study Centre would arrange a book fair on the day at the University’s Central Library. The Rickshaw Association of Khyber Pakthunkhwa has planned to take out a rally in City while different political and religious political parties will also stage rallies and seminars on the day.

The electronic and print media have chalked special programmes to inform youth about heroic struggle of forefathers led by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah during Pakistan Movement that led to creation of Pakistan.

The electronic media would present various programmes including national songs, talk shows, documentaries, dramas and children programmes while print media would carry out special supplements, features and articles, highlighting the importance of the day.

Special stalls in Qisa Khwani in City, Laiqat bazaars in cantonment have been setup where customers can be seen in large number buying national flags, stickers and badges to celebrate independence day with great zeal. Great rush of buyers are being seen on stalls and shops especially decorated and designed for independence day.
