CM promises another sports complex for Mardan

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amir Haider Khan Hoti has urged the need for inculcating sportsman spirit and national unity to overcome the challenges.

He was speaking at a prize distribution ceremony held here Friday after conclusion of the First Ameer Haider Khan All Pakistan Hockey Tournament that ended in Mardan. As many as 16 teams took part in the tournament. Final match of the tournament was played between the Mardan Red and DHA Attock which was won by the former by 4-2.

The chief Minister said victory and defeat were part of the games but most important is sportsman spirit that builds confidence and courage to face challenges. He was of the view that organizing sports competition at provincial and national levels was not only essential for providing healthy recreational opportunities to the players of different parts of the country but it also helped in prompting national unity which was the need of the hour.

Referring to the major problem of unemployment, the chief minister said that provincial government had launched a number of initiatives to overcome the problem. For this purpose, he said under the Bach Kah Khpal Rozgar Scheme, two billion rupees were allocated during the last two years while one billion rupees would be allocated in the next budget to provide interest free loans of Rs. one lakh to the unemployed youth on fist come first serve basis. He added that another scheme titled Hunermand Rozgar Scheme was also being launched to provide loans of Rs. three lakh to those who have got technical training.

He said these shames were free from all sorts of political interference hoping that the initiatives would go a long way in overcoming the unemployment. Referring to a demand regarding laying of Astroturf in Mardan Sports complex, the chief minister said that 35 million rupees had been approved in the next Annual Development Programme for the purpose. He said that a swimming pool was also being constructed in the sports complex. He further said that another sports complex would be constructed in district Mardan for which land was being acquired in the area lying between Village Mayar and Hoti.
