Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain while highlighting the importance of the Christmas said that Jesus Christ (PBUH) gave a message of peace, love and tolerance. Addressing a Christmas function on Wednesday, Mian Iftikhar stressed need to promote tolerance, love and brotherhood among all religions and different sects while keeping in view gravity of the law and order situation.

The function marked the start of Christmas celebrations in Peshawar. 

He also announced Rs one million to establish Church at D.I. Khan which was a long standing demand of the Christian community of the province. 

Speaking on the occasion Minister for Religious and Minorities Affairs Nimroz Khan said that the government was taken revolutionary steps for provision of facilities and incentives to minorities. He said the government was planning a housing scheme for Christian community.

Earlier, performers at the function enthralled audience by their performances in different skits, tableaus and Christmas songs.

The Christmas event was organised by Assemblies of God Churches (AOGC) here at local hotel. 

AOGC Chairman, Pastor Dr A.R Hashmat offered special prayer for peace, prosperity and integrity of the country. Besides Minister for Information and Provincial Minister for Religious Affairs Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Aqil Shah, Gulshan Bhatti, Dr Arshad Masih, Secretary AOGC, and a large number of families belonging to Muslim and Christian communities attended the function.
