A 12-member-team from seven public and private Pakistani universities bagged a bronze medal in a science fair held in Boston. The team which included several girls took part in an event where genetically engineered machines designed by students were displayed. The team from Peshawar was the only team from Pakistan which contested against 300 teams from around the world. Students from Pakistan designed a bio senser which could detect the level of poisonous gases like Carbon Monoxide and Nitric Oxide.
“The judges at the fair praised our team and our efforts to introduce synthetic biology in Pakistan,” one of the team members said.
Another claimed that they had worked day and night to win the prize. For working over the project the Science and Technology director had approved Rs1,2500,000 proving that given the chance students from Pakistan can excel in academics.
