District Administration has said that it would submit its report to Election Commission of Pakistan regarding the oversize hoardings of the political parties as the deadline to remove them ended on Sunday evening.

Talking to The Frontier Post Feroz Shah, PRO to Deputy Commissioner, said that the campaign to remove the illegal and oversize hoardings, banners and posters was started six days ago and continued till 5pm on Sunday.

He further said that the district administration would send the complete data to ECP on Monday and ECP would take actions against political parties who had violated the directive of election commission.

He said the district administration had removed all such banners, posters, billboards and hoardings which were against the rules of ECP however, it had to face pressure from the workers of different political parties in some areas of Peshawar which would also be reported to ECP.

Mohammad Rehman Khattak, an official of the district administration said that the workers has taken down hundreds of thousands oversized billboards, banners and posters from Soray Pull up to the Ring Road  and all Circular Road.

There were some hurdles in removal of the posters and hoardings as some of the political parties’ workers were not aware of ECP’s code of conduct regarding the upcoming polls, Khattak said while replying to a query. Assistant Commissioner Peshawar Habibullah Arif supervised the whole process.

As per rules of Election Commission of Pakistan no person or political party shall affix posters, hoardings or banners larger than the size already approved. The sizes are; poster up to 2 feet X 3 feet, hoardings 3X5 feet, Banners up to 3X9 feet and leaflets and hand bills 9X6 inches.
