After the Peshawar High Court issued order to weed out the encroachers from all the graveyards, the district administration decided on Monday to carry out grand operation against all such encroachments in provincial capital on Wednesday.

The district administration in this regard sought assistance from Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and the police department in order to avoid any untoward incident during the operation. 

This decision was taken in a meeting held on the directives issued by Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Mohammad Javed Marwat to devise plan for the operation. Assistant Commissioner Khwaja Sikandar Zeshan presided the meeting. 

PDA would provide staff and heavy machinery to raze the illegal construction in graveyards, Assistant Commisioner said while adding that all the staff of departments would come at Circular Road to start the operation. The operation would be started from Kakshal area of Akhunabad.

Meanwhile Assistant Commissioner II launched offensive against the shopkeepers and arrested 33 among them over the complaints made by people on Monday.

Hafiz Ahmed Kamal AC carried out operation against the shopkeepers in Nishtarabad and Gulbahar No 1 arresting 33 for violating the price lists issued by district administration. The detained shopkeepers include Nanbais, butchers and general store shopkeepers.
