Visitors and patients at Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar were not satisfied with the cleaning system of the hospital as most of the visitors have reservation on the drainage system of the hospital. LRH hospital, the busiest hospital of provincial capital in terms of accommodating and treating the number of patients especially the terror incidents victims, is facing cleanliness issue due to the negligence of hospital administration.

A visitor Janbaz Khan from Mardan who brought his wife for the treatment to the LRH hospital told The Frontier Post that there was no system of cleaning in the hospital as most of the garbage drums were either too old or broken. He also said that he himself has complained about the cleanliness to the authorities but no action was taken. 

Nizar Khan another visitor from Swat said that he was with his his patient at Neurology Ward, and he saw insects cockroaches and other insects all over the hospital. He further said that hardly any bathroom or toilet at the hospital was clean and even no water was available in most of the toilets due to which the attendants had to go out of the hospital to answer the nature’s call.

A patient at the hospital without being named said that the garbage drums at the hospital were always uncovered spreading foul smell and cats taking advantage of the drums being uncovered keep on throwing the garbage out of these drums in search for food.

Dr Jahangir Deputy Medical Superintend (DMS) of the hospital said that indeed they were facing the problems of cleaning in the hospital but they were trying their best to not give the opportunity of complaints to the people. He added that there are two hundred staff of cleaning was working day and night to clean the hospital.

Dr. Jahangir added that as LRH hospital is the big hospital of the province and in every category people were visiting to the hospital, adding that it is also our responsibility to clean our environment as most of the people not properly throwing the garbage’s to their proper place.
