
Attacks against volunteers of the anti-polio drive continued in Khyber Pakhtukhwa on Wednesday. A volunteer of the anti-polio campaign was injured during a firing incident in the Daudzai area of the city. The worker was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.
In Charsadda and Nowshera unknown men riding on motorcycles opened fire on female volunteers of the anti-polio teams. Fortunately there was no loss of life reported.
On Tuesday, four female vaccination volunteers of the World Health Organizations (WHO) anti-polio teams were shot and killed in two separate incidents in Karachi. The attacks prompted the Sindh government to suspend the anti-polio drive in Karachi.
In Peshawar a 14 year old volunteer of the anti-polio drive was also killed by an unknown gunman.
