A comprehensive plan was devised to ensure foolproof security in all shopping centers and business hubs in the provincial capital on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
A meeting to review security arrangements with members of the business community and local administration was held on Tuesday.
President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) Dr Mohammad Yousaf Sarwar also attended the meeting.
The meeting decided to beef up security at bazaars in cantonment and city areas. On the recommendation of the business community, the meeting decided that the Saddar Bazaar and others will remain open without any ban on entry.
During the meeting, KPCCI President Dr Yousaf informed the participants about the concern of the business community over the closure of bazaars and ban on entry of vehicles in Saddar.
He said business activities had already declined due to poor law and order situation in the provincial metropolis, adding, banning of vehicles and closure of bazaars could further affect businesses on the eve of the religious festival.
KPCCI president said that the business community would extend support to police and relevant departments but was against the closure of bazaars.
The participants said that buyers were reluctant to visit bazaars due to the extra security measures and blockages of main roads, which could affect business activities.
However, shopping centers would be kept open for buyers on the eve of Eid ul Azha.
