Iftikhar announces Rs:10m bounty on Malala attacker

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced Rs10m award for the person who would give information about the terrorists who had attacked Malala Yousafzai. Speaking to media here

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced Rs10m award for the person who would give information about the terrorists who had attacked Malala Yousafzai. Speaking to media here at Officers Mess on Wednesday, Mian Ifikhar Hussain said the decision in this regard was taken in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti.

“The name of the informer of the attackers would be kept in total secrete,” Information Minister said.

When asked about sending Malala abroad for medical treatment, the spokesman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government said that there was not need for sending Malala abroad after she was successfully operated by the doctors. However, he made it clear that any further decision in this regard would be taken after consultation with the best team of doctors looking after the health of Malala Yousafzai.

He said Malala Yousufzai is stabilizing, but he said that she would be put on anesthesia for two days.

He said the government would take all measures for the early recovery of the injured 14-year old Swat girl who was awarded first ever National Peace Award by the government.

The minister rejected the notion that the attack on Malala Yousafzai was failure of the government to give protection to the people. “Providing security cover to every one is not possible as every person in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing similar threats,” Iftikhar said while reiterating the government stance of holding dialogues with those militants who were ready to lay down their arms. He said the situation in areas like Malakand was improving with each passing day and children including girls were regularly attending the schools.
