
Talking to the media, he said that it was a great opportunity for the country to raise the drone issue on international level but the government and other political parties lost the chance for sake of their personal interests.
“The government machinery opposed us rather than cooperating with us against drone attacks on innocent people,” he said, adding government was not sincere with the people of Waziristan.
He criticized government for showing hypocrisy regarding the drone attacks and urged the rulers to speak truth to the people of Pakistan.
Defending his decision to return from Tank he said he had decided to protect the lives of participants of the march. “Who would have been responsible for the likely mishap if the caravan had been hit by miscreants in darkness,” he said.
Lashing out on PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, he said Nawaz was in habit of using tactics in the name of politics.
Replying to a question that he postponed the peace march after a telephone call Imran said it was the practice of Nawaz Sharif to backtrack decision on telephone calls. He referred to the Long March by Nawaz when he returned back from Gujranwala.
He recalled an APDM meeting in which, according to him, Nawaz told him that he was receiving a call from David Milliband – the call continued for 40 minutes, Imran said .
He said that it is regrettable to say that old aged journalists came here in Pakistan in order to highlight the drone issue but Maulana Fazlur Rehman tried to scandalize them for his vested interests. It is very shameful to declare them Yahood o Nasara who had came from flung areas on humanitarian bases, said Khan.
He also said that the people like maulana Fazlur Rehman had done no service to the nation and Islam; rather they are a blot on Islam.
