An Inspector of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was killed while trying to diffuse an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the suburb area of provincial capital Frontier Road in Badhber on Friday.

Fifty-year old Inspector Hukam Khan was the most experienced person in the BDS and had diffused about 120 live bombs out of a total of 260 bombs encountered by the Peshawar district squad staff. 

He had defused one IED on Friday but unfortunately he lost his life while diffusing another which exploded in his face. Unidentified militants had planted the explosive material of which the police received information and they called BDS.

Cops started search operation after the incident. SP Rural Khurshid Khan said one of the militants was killed while the other was injured and fled. According to the SP the latest information was that the injured culprit was in Ali Marjan Hospital. 

The killed militant was named Nasser. The SP refuted the news that anybody else, other than the BDS personal was either killed or injured in the blast. Sources said that around 260 bombs were diffused in Peshawar and more than 120 bombs were diffused by Mr. Khan. A police official said that was Mr. Khan had received serious injuries several time before this incident during diffusing bomb. 

SP Rural said that Mr. Khan played vital role in the war against terrorism and he saved many lives in his career. Funeral prayer of Shaheed Hukam Khan was offered in police line in 2:30 pm. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister KP and other police high ups offered funeral prayer of Mr. Khan.
