Higher Education Commission (HEC) has released first instalment fo Rs. 58 million to University of Peshawar to meet its expenses.
The University Administration said that HEC pledged to release Rs. 250 million as a first instalment out of total amount of Rs.879 million, adding that release of Rs.58 million out of Rs250 million would further aggravate financial crisis for the university instead of helping it to overcome the financial crunch.
The university spokesman said the amount was insufficient as the university could not even pay the salaries to its employees from it. He added that the total salaries of employees were around Rs. 100 million. The University administration urged HEC to release rest of the amount as soon as possible so that it could meet the expenses.
