The city police chalked out a comprehensive security plan for peaceful observance of Eidul Fitr under which more than 6000 policemen would be developed on sensitive and public places to ward off any eventuality. A senior police official told APP on Sunday that over 6,000 police personnel would perform duties in shifts during Eid days in the provincial capital.
As per plan, women policemen and police cops in plain clothes in different bazaars have been positioned to monitor the movement of customers. He said close circuit cameras have been installed in important places and locations to check the movement of unwanted elements.
He said close vigils on hotels, inns, transport stations and others public places are being made, adding police patrolling would also be enhanced in the city and Cantonment area during Eidul Fitr. Sub Divisional Police Officers and SHO have been directed to regularly make patrolling in their respective areas. Police had also tightened security at different link roads, continuously checking suspected people and vehicles to ensure peaceful observance of the religious festivity.
Police high-ups have passed on strict directions to police officials to ensure patrolling in their respective areas and pay surprise visits at police pickets set up within their jurisdictions. The bomb disposal squad has been kept on a high alert besides on the eve of Chand Raat and Eid, special police officials will be performing duties in this regard.
Meanwhile, public has been requested to cooperate with the police in curbing terrorist elements in the city and immediately inform the authorities, after observing any suspicious movement in any area of the city. Emergency 1122 would also remain on high alert in order to take prompt action on the complaints of citizens.
The CCPO Imtaiz Altaf has appealed to the religious leaders and citizens to completely cooperate with the police to make its security plan a success. He also appealed to the people to extend their wholehearted cooperation for the eradication of terrorism and inform police about criminals or suspicious elements and vehicles
