Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Muhammad Ayub Jan Thursday said 48 percent fruits are being produced in Khyber Pakthunkhwa due to its better atmosphere for fruits’ production.

He said the Khyber Pakthunkhwa’s Red Orange, Dhaki dates and peach were being liked not only in the country but in Middle East and European Countries as well.

Talking to a group of scientists and agriculture’s experts here at Tarnab Agriculture Institute, the Minister said the government has completed planning for raising gardens of apple, peach, red orange, almond, and white apricot fruits and urged scientists to play a lead role in accomplishment of this mission.

He said pollution was a big threat to environment and could only be tackled by growing gardens of fruits and plantations of saplings of different species. Planning for plantation of dates and others fruits gardens would be raised in Southern Khyber Pakthunkhwa, he added. 

The province has attained self sufficiency in production of quality seeds of wheat, resulting high increase in per acre production. The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor Agriculture University, Dr Khan Bahadar, Director General Said Nazir Hussain and others high ranking officers of Agriculture Department.
